“If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.”
- Maya Angelou
In 2022, I returned to my first childhood love; reading. The first time I fell in love with a good book was during one of my routine visits to the Phoenix Public Library. The year was 2005. The book was “A Light in the Attic” by Shel Silverstein. But, being required to read textbooks during my college years caused me to lose some of the joy I felt when I opened a new book.
I have decided to rededicate myself to my reading practice. My word for 2023 is intention. This is how I will approach each book I pick up this year. My hope is to be engaged, informed and transformed by the words I consume every month.
Every week beginning in February I intend to use this space to oooh and aaah about the books I am reading. As a subscriber, you will have access to my weekly recaps and end of the month book reviews. From time to time, I will share how I create my “reading ambiance”. This includes my favorite book lights, highlighters, pens, etc.
Whether you feel led to read along with me each month or begin a journey of your own, reading is the only goal.
If you would like to join me, I welcome the gift of reading partners!
